Mike R. Schuster
Biography
Mike is a worship leader / singer / songwriter and Compassion Canada Artist who resides in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with his wife Jennifer. Mike has released three CDs of original modern worship music, “Singalongs & Pseudohymns” (2016), “To The World” (2011), and “Together” (2006).
In addition to serving over a hundred churches across Canada with Compassion, Mike has been privileged to lead worship and play at events such as the CCCC National Convention, Promise Keepers, Willow Creek Arts Summit, and other conferences and retreats.
He has shared the stage with Jon Bauer, Jon Buller, Matt Brouwer, Luke Dowler, High Valley, Chris Bray, Amanda Falk (Cook), Dan Nel, Jacob Moon, Chris Janz, Randy Stonehill, and a host of other Christian artists. Mike dedicates many weekends each year to sharing his songs, worship team workshops, and Compassion presentations with churches across Canada.
Mike’s 2016 album, “Singalongs & Pseudohymns” earned him a nomination for a Western Canada Music Award as “Spiritual Artist of the Year” 2016. It also claimed the #4 spot in Hallels.com “Favorite Worship Albums 2016: A Half Yearly Review” top 10 list. Mike is also a multiple Gospel Music Association Covenant Award Nominated Artist, with the following nominations: “Able” for GMA Rock Song of the Year 2016, “Nobody Loves Me Like You” (co-written and recorded with Jennifer Jade Kerr) for GMA Collaboration of the Year 2016, “Almighty God” for GMA Praise & Worship Song of the Year 2015; and “Sunday” (co-written with Brad Rempel of High Valley) for GMA Country / Bluegrass Song of the Year 2012.
Mike has a Bachelor’s degree in Education (music), and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Training, along with over 25 years of experience leading worship and teaching at the High School and College level.
Mike’s passion is writing sing-able, theologically sound worship songs for use in local churches. Several songs from his CD projects are receiving radio airplay, and many of his songs are being used in congregations throughout North America and beyond.
